Ladies & gentlemen... I am proud to announce our latest release, "Viva La Fleetwood" courtesy of my good friend and partner, Fleetwood Malone (LB). I watched my guy slowly put this project together a year ago with "White Tiger" and with the help of myself ("The One", "The Recipe", "Good Shit"), Raw (who produced 4 tracks as well as mix the entire album) and Fleetwood's day one collaborator, Nawledge, LB (excuse me, Fleetwood) created a solid sophomore album that I truly believe may be the best rap project to drop this year in the 907 (It's going to be hard for me to top it with my next one, that's for sure) that I'm also sure most of you will thoroughly enjoy. Listen to this, if you enjoy it, download it (via either 907hiphop/Tubblife or Fleetwood's bandcamp site) and let your homies know, it's long live Fleetwood, it's long live Blade Gang... It's been a minute, i know. I've been "going through some thangs". But never mind that, I just wanted to post some random lil tid bits, just to keep you up to speed and most importantly, to let you know I'm still alive. Ok, so peep it.

- LB's album is done. Artwork is being finalized (Lex killed it!), It's fucking awesome. Trust me, I know awesome.

- There's a song we recorded today, last minute for Viva La Fleetwood. I don't even know what it's called. But it's a Raw beat, and it too, is fuggin awesome. I can't wait for y'all to hear that one. 

- I gotta song called "For Keeps". Most likely will leak that one next off Death Is Promised

- We got a huge song for the home team. Mr.Boots is on it as well. A few local white boys may shed a tear, ha.

- Death Is Promised is 95% complete.

- Keezy's album will come around Christmas time. I think.

- Probably shooting a visual to "The One", when you hear it, you'll know why.

- LB's singing now, ha. 

- The recording for Tequila Sunrise has officially begun.

I'll start blogging more, i promise. Off to the bar for alcohol and shuffleboard. Adios.

Torch Passing (Finding Kanye)

We've seen it all before...

Big had Lil Cease...

Jay had Bleek...

Marshall had Royce...

etc. etc. etc.

There's a common theme though...

Lil Cease never panned out to be what Big had envisioned him to be.

Bleek was cool but never quite got it right...

Royce coulda been so much more in the beginning but there was that falling out...

Big ended up finding out that his bitch Kim would be his best successor (or The LOX, depending on how you look at it.)

For Marshall, his most successful predecessor ended up being a dude from Queens who got shot 9 times.

And with Hov, surprisingly enough, his greatest successor would be a square bear producer/rapper named Kanye.

Rappers love putting their homies on, however, most of the time, the homies are better off just being... homies. 

The same can be said for me & my beloved Blade Gang (Hellrazors).

I came up with several buddies who enjoyed this rap shit. We came up together, we had fun, we did our thing & made many great memories but as time went on, I grew to realize my passion and ambition to make music for my community, my home, my people, was not equally matched by my friends. No offense to them, cuz many of them I still consider family and love and respect to this day, but they just didn't want to do this music shit as badly as I did, so the "gang" eventually disbanded and everyone went on to do their own thing. Unsurprisingly, the majority of those individuals are not making/putting out music these days. 

I come from the Eastside of Fairbanks, Alaska. Those who grew up on the East, take great pride in that. One of those individuals happened to be a local d-boy named Lamar...

Lamar's younger. 5 years younger, I believe. I knew of Lamar (or as we all know him back home, "LB") through the younger homies. My lil bros Devon & Jeff Bailey would come to my lil mixtape store to kick it and one day they brought a young LB over to kick some raps for me. It was cool. Wasn't nothing great and at the time, I'm doing my Hellrazor thing along with my store and studio so I had a lot going on. I told him to keep at it and kind of left it at that. I went on to put out several more albums, travelled and performed while a young LB stayed in the streets doing what he did until the law caught up with him and put him behind bars. We lost touch with each other during that time but always remained cool when we crossed paths. Several years later, we reconnected and to my surprise, LB had continued working on his music, writing rhymes, playing with beats and just doing what most kids like us do, and thats trying to find something else to keep us from doing dumb shit. At that point, I noticed the kid had ambition, persistence and patience. Something I hoped my other Hellrazor brothers would have. I finally found someone who not only had the same desires, but also had his own means of getting it and shared the same ambition. I went on tour, he came with. Paid his own way, played his position and always came through on his word, financially and otherwise. I sent him beats, he'd write his verses. Several verses. He'd even ask if he should re-write them and do them over. Several years later, Blade Gang has been narrowed down to 3 (shout out to my baby bro Keezy of Sky Division who shares all of these same traits as well. I'll tell you more about him, soon enough). After a decade plus, of frustrations with my previous artists/band members, I finally found the person to pass the torch to. I finally found my Kanye... 

We are on the verge of releasing LB's (who officially goes by the name Fleetwood Malone, these days) 2nd project "Viva La Fleetwood" and I gotta say, it's amazing, but until then, here's the latest leak and title cut from said project. I promise you many great things from Blade Gang this year, and Lamar (along with Keezy) will be a major contributor to that. Untitled (Speechless)

At times, finding the right words can be difficult. For me, this was one of those times...

In rap, a lot of the times, the topic of love can be awkward or taboo. God forbid, we find love, whether romantic or just the love for someone you admire in whatever way, and glamorize it in our music the way we boast about fucking random girls, selling drugs, doing hoodrat stuff with our friends, which don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed all of the above and have made many songs about those specific topics, but to make rap music about not just being in love, but songs about admiration & love for another individual, that's not as easy... not as "cool". *shrug*

This is the greatest gift I've ever received in my life. The woman I consider to be the closest person to me in life, the woman who literally (physically) saved my life a year ago, the woman who knows me more than anyone, a woman who knows I don't like receiving presents (material objects purchased as a sign of affection) but value art, whether professional or unintentional, a woman who knows my love for songwriting, decided, for my birthday, she was going to give me something I would never expect but would greatly appreciate for the rest of my life... A song.

She was smart about it, too. She knows how I feel about rap (I'm a hip hop snob). I don't want to hear my girl (who isn't a rapper) spit bars. Sorry, that'd just be awkward. Instead of doing something she has no experience in, she reached out to two men who knew how to kick a rhyme or two, who happened to also be very close to me (Lamar/Fleetwood and Keezy) and with the coaching and sonic assistance by my longtime collaborator and mentor, Raw Beatzz, the end result is something so special to me, I will spend the rest of my life, enjoying. A gift that will truly keep on giving, as long as I don't lose my hearing, ha. I'm honored to share with you, my birthday gift from Janie Ma, Lamar Beckley (Fleetwood Malone), Keon McMillan (Keezy of The Sky Division) and Mr.Ashley Bell (Raw Beatzz)... This is "Til The End".
